The 21-year-old striker scored late on Saturday to give his team a win, and put further pressure on the strikers ahead of him on the USA depth chartJuan Agudelo is doing his best to push for a late World Cup spot, and at the very least an invitation to the U.S. national team training camp later this month.
The FC Utrecht striker, on loan from Stoke City, grabbed an assist in the first half against Vitesse Arnhem on Saturday, and added a late game winner in a 2-1 victory.
The 21-year-old assisted Steve De Ridder's opener in the 40th minute, before Zakaria Labyad equalized for the visitors. With 13 minutes to play, Agudelo got on the end of a loose ball in the box and slotted home from six yards to win the match.
The goal was Agudelo's third since joining Utrecht in January, and his second in three games as he looks to impress Jurgen Klinsmann before Klinsmann selects his 30-player preliminary World Cup roster. The preliminary World Cup roster is due to be submitted by May 13, with the pre-World Cup training camp set to begin May 15.
