The versatile defender will help make up for the loss of three players who were withdrawn from the roster on Saturday. The U.S. national team has called up Birmingham City defender Jonathan Spector for the team's friendly against Ukraine on March 5.
Spector, 28, has a chance to make his first appearance for the national team since a 1-0 victory against Italy in February 2012. The versatile veteran has 34 caps for the USA, and was a part of the 2010 World Cup team.
The call-up comes a day after Michael Bradley, Mix Diskerud and Tim Ream were withdrawn from the national team squad for a variety of reasons. There are now 22 players in coach Jurgen Klinsmann's camp.
The team will train Monday in Frankfurt, Germany, before departing for Cyprus the following day. The match was originally set for Kharkiv, Ukraine, but the location was changed due to political strife in the country. Kickoff at Antonis Papadopoulos Stadium in Larnaca is at 2:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday.
