Donovan: I would love to return to Everton

The USA international claims that he "misses" the Merseyside club, with which he has enjoyed two separate loan spells during the MLS close season in recent years.
LA Galaxy midfielder Landon Donovan has reiterated his desire to return to Everton in the future.

The 30-year old has enjoyed two fruitful loan spells with the Merseyside club, in 2010 and 2012, scoring two goals in 22 appearances overall.

When asked whether he would like to go back to Goodison Park one day, Donovan told “I would absolutely like to come back. There’s no question about that. And I know I will be back at some point.

“Now, whether I’m back as a player or just as a fan, who knows? Right now, my focus is obviously is on this season and qualifying for the World Cup. It’s a big, really important year, and then we’ll see what happens."

The 30-year-old also revealed that he misses the city of Liverpool, claiming that the people involved with the club were a great help in welcoming him.

“I miss the people a lot," he said. "I miss driving to Goodison Park. I miss just the positive energy of the fans walking into the stadium and how much they care about that club and the team. And I miss the players a lot.”

Donovan went on to hail USA teammate Clint Dempsey, who achieved an impressive return of 23 goals this season for Fulham and became the first American to reach 50 Premier League strikes.

“It’s almost hard to believe. There’s no doubt this is the best season any American has ever put together in football," he marveled. “He’s been their [Fulham’s] go-to guy, and he’s often times the one making the difference in their games. I’m thoroughly impressed with him and it’s been really fun to watch.”
