Carlos Bocanegra has hit the century mark.

The U.S. captain made his 100th appearance with the international squad when he started against Slovenia in a friendly on Tuesday.

The 32-year-old became only the 12th player to accomplish the feat. He joins only Jeff Agoos (134), Marcelo Balboa (127) and Paul Caligiui (110) as the only defenders with 100 caps.

To honor Bocanegra, Slovenia captain Samir Handanovic presented the California-born player with a Slovenia jersey with his name and No. 100 on the back.

Bocanegra has played in 25 different countries since joining the national team over a decade ago when he made his first appearance off the bench against South Korea on Dec. 9, 2001.
