USA head coach Jurgen Klinsmann has named his 22-man squad to take on France and Slovenia on Nov. 11 and 15 in two exhibition matches.
“These games are valuable opportunities for us as we continue to explore and evaluate everyone in the national team program,” said Klinsmann. “We have started to build a foundation on our playing style, and every time we are together the team gets a more precise picture of how I want to see things done on the field. We want to continue to progress so we are able to challenge teams like France, who have earned their place as one of the top 15 teams in the world.”
The team will join up on Nov. 7 in Paris and begin preparations for the matches, which will be one of its last before the May training camp as there is only one remaining international break before then.
Some of the surprise names in Klinsmann's squad include defenders Alfredo Morales and Michael Orozco Fiscal as well as Landon Donovan of the LA Galaxy and Kyle Beckerman of Real Salt Lake, who both may be preparing for an appearance in MLS Cup 2011 if their teams can advance that far.
