Atletico Madrid has interest in American striker Juan Agudelo, according to MARCA.
The prominent Spanish newspaper reports that Atletico has closely followed the 18-year-old's progress with the U.S. national team and the New York Red Bulls. Atletico general manager Miguel Ángel Gil Marín attended the Red Bulls' 1-0 loss to the Philadelphia Union last Saturday.
While Agudelo's production is not yet on par with what would generally be considered as a major transfer target, the youngster has drawn praise from both the American media and teammates with the U.S. national team for his flashes of brilliance since his breakout showings for the Red Bulls in last year's MLS Cup playoffs.
Agudelo has one goal in three games for his Major League Soccer squad this season. He scored the U.S. team's only goal in last month's 1-1 tie against Argentina in New Jersey.
