Two players pulled out of the U.S. camp through injury Wednesday, leaving coach Bob Bradley with a 23-man roster to face Chile on Jan. 22.
Justin Braun and Ugo Ihemelu will return to Chivas USA and FC Dallas, respectively, after injuries undid their national team hopes for this month.
Braun suffered a cut near his left Achilles which will keep him out for a week. Ihemelu is still struggling with hip and groin injuries from the 2010 postseason, in which the defender helped guide Dallas to the MLS Cup final.
Bradley has neglected to call up replacements with plenty of new faces already in the fold. Zenit St. Petersburg-owned striker Eugene Starikov joined the camp Friday, meaning four strikers are still available despite Braun's departure.
As for Ihemelu, adept at both center back and right back, A.J. DeLaGarza, Sean Franklin, Zach Loyd, and Marvell Wynne are all capable of covering both of those positions, leaving Bradley with some flexibility.
