FIFA Inspection Delegation Visits Five U.S. Cities As Part Of World Cup Bid
The FIFA delegation landed in New York on Monday.
FIFA's Inspection Delegation is in the United States this week looking at five of the 18 cities involved in the USA's 2018 or 2022 World Cup bids.
The delegation landed in New York City Monday and spent Tuesday touring facilities in that area. On Wednesday the group will headed to Washington D.C. and Miami where they will have a look as two more sets of facilities before rounding out their tour with a Texas swing through Dallas and Houston on Thursday.
Harold Mayne-Nicholls, the president of the Chile Football Association, is heading the FIFA Inspection Delegation.
The movement to bring the World Cup back to the USA has gained plenty of steam in recent months. More than 1 million supporters in the USA having already signed a petition to bring the biggest event in sports back to the States. High profile support from people such as New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is also helping to bolster the chances of the tournament being brought back to the USA.
