USA coach Bob Bradley has confirmed his interest in replacing Martin O’Neill as Aston Villa manager.

O’Neill resigned as Villa manager days before the club’s opening Premier League game against West Ham United after disagreements with owner Randy Lerner over the direction in which the club was heading.

Kevin MacDonald has since been placed in temporary charge until the club finds a new manager, but his chances of landing the job on a full time basis were not helped by last weekend’s 6-0 mauling at the hands of Newcastle United.

Bradley, who led the impressive USA team to a last 16 place at the World Cup after winning Group C ahead of Fabio Capello’s England side, has emerged as a strong candidate for the job at Villa Park.

The USA coach has a contract with the national side until the end of the year, and is keen to test his managerial skills in Europe, but admits that he has not had any discussions with the hierarchy at Villa Park as of yet.

When asked if he would be interested in becoming the next manager of Aston Villa, Bradley toldSky Sports News: "Most definitely."

He added: "The possibility of working in the Premier League at some point would be a goal for sure.

"There has not been any contact (with Aston Villa). Everyone knows that for the moment Kevin MacDonald is the caretaker manager and the first step is for a decision to be made with him. He's a good man.

"There will be some further discussions with U.S. Soccer and we will see where that takes us."

Whether the talented coach succeeds Marin O'Neil or not, it appears inevitable that he will soon make the switch to Europe at some point in the near future.

Bradley continued: "And like so many others, I will continue to see what other opportunities are out there - I feel I have the ability to work in Europe and it's something that I would like to do in my career. I am excited about that possibility - whenever it comes and wherever it comes."
