Bob Bradley: Still U.S. National Team Manager
Early reports have been refuted.
By Seth Vertelney
Reports of Bob Bradley's demise appear to have been greatly exaggerated.
Early Friday morning, the internet was abuzz with a report that Bradley had stepped down as U.S. National Team head coach, and was on the verge of being named manager at Aston Villa.
As the morning rolled on, however, the reports were unable to be confirmed and finally, refutations emerged from all sides involved.
Bradley's agent, and representatives from the United States Soccer Federation, among others, have all denied the early reports.
According to Reuters, the USSF plans to continue discussions with Bradley, whose contract as manager is set to expire at the end of 2010.
“The unsubstantiated rumors that Bob Bradley has resigned or was fired continue to circulate. Ignore 'em. No decision has been made,” tweeted Washington Post soccer reporter Steve Goff.
In short: for now, Bob Bradley is still the manager of the U.S. National Team. Aston Villa do not have a permanent manager.
Stay tuned.
