USA Moves Up One Spot In FIFA Rankings

The reward for a positive World Cup showing is the boost of one spot in the FIFA World Rankings for the United States.

The Americans jumped up to 13th overall, tied with Serbia, in FIFA's rankings.

Pitted in a group with England, Algeria, and Slovenia, the U.S. finished top of the group thanks to an opening draw with England and an injury time winner over Algeria in the last game of group play. In the knockout rounds, the U.S. took Ghana too extra time before losing.

Rather than a spectacular World Cup, it was a satisfactory one. Likewise, the nudge up the rankings is a small increase rather than a lunge.
