World Cup Profile: Alejandro Bedoya - USA
Position: Midfield
Club: Orebro
DOB: 29 April 1987
Alejandro Bedoya - With only two international appearances to his name, Bedoya burst onto the international scene at the beginning of 2010 to become an option at outside midfield for the United States. Bedoya parried the confidence he gained from his first U.S. cap into a successful start to his club season with Orebro. He became a regular started for the club earlier this year, and has three goals in 26 games over two seasons. Orebro are currently in third place in the Swedish top division, Allsvenskan. Prior to his European escapade, Bedoya played college soccer at Boston College and Fairleigh Dickinson.
Bedoya's first U.S. appearance came in January 2010 against Honduras. After a successful winter training camp with the national team, he was given a substitute role in the friendly against Honduras before heading back to Sweden. His second appearance came against Holland in March. His skill, creativity, and energy off the bench have been a valuable asset in his limited time with the national team.
Did You Know? Alejandro and his father, Adriano, both played under the same coach in college, Ed Kelly. Alejandro played for him when he was the head coach at Boston College, and his father played for Kelly when he was the assistant at Fairleigh Dickinson.
