World Cup Profile: Conor Casey- USA

Position: Forward
Club: Colorado Rapids
D.O.B: 25 July 1981

Conor Casey - Casey is an interesting case. Much like Cherundolo, the big striker began his professional career in German after some good showings at the youth international level. His time in the Bundesliga and 2 Bundesliga was up and down. His best years came with Karlsruher, where he appeared 30 times and scored 14 goals, but Casey was never able to catch on as a full time starter while in Europe.

His international career suffered as a result and, though his first cap came in 2001, the 28-year-old is only now becoming a regular fixture on the roster.

A move back to Major League Soccer saw Casey not only become one of the most feared players in the league, but also helped him catch the eye of Bob Bradley and his staff. During qualifying and the 2009 Confederations Cup his performances met with mixed reviews, but Casey was instrumental in the World Cup clinching win over Honduras, scoring twice in a 3-2 victory.

Did you know? Casey played in Germany for six years.
