World Cup Profile: Jozy Altidore- USA
Position: Forward
Club: Hull City
D.O.B: 6 November 1989
Jozy Altidore - A standout young talent that has nevertheless struggled with dips in form and playing time, Altidore is a big, athletic forward whose powerful shot cannons the ball into the goal when he is on target.
Signed by the New York Red Bulls at age 17, Altidore worked his way into the lineup with a series of good performances. He continued his prodigious ascent by scoring in the playoffs his rookie year. His club career hit a new level when he was bought from MLS by Villarreal in Spain. However, Altidore's career stalled in La Liga, and broken toe injury ruined a loan spell at Xerez.
Altidore bounced back in international action for the USA, scoring a hat-trick against Trinidad and Tobago in World Cup qualifying and scoring in the USA's upset win over Spain in the Confederations Cup tournament.
Another loan stint to Hull City has been less-than successful, however, leaving many to question whether Altidore went abroad at too young an age and would be better off with more playing time in MLS than on the bench in Europe.
Did you know? Altidore is of Haitian descent, as both his parents were born there.
