Help Haiti: Bid On Bornstein's Boots
Help out the victims of the tragic Haiti earthquake by bidding on Jonathan Bornstein's historic boots.
Want a piece of World Cup qualifying history? Now you can have it, while helping out the earthquake victims in Haiti.
Jonathan Bornstein is auctioning off the cleats he wore when scoring the United States' last goal in qualifying for the 2010 World Cup. His powerful header in injury time against Costa Rica meant that Honduras, not the Ticos, will travel to South Africa this summer.
The proceeds from the auction for his signed shoes will go 100% towards the American Red Cross to aid in the relief efforts in Haiti. The quake affected three million people, with hundreds of thousands feared dead.
“The devastation and suffering in Haiti is a tragedy for everyone,” said Bornstein. “One of our teammates, Jozy Altidore, is the son of Haitian immigrants and still has many family members there. It’s heartbreaking to see what is happening, and we hope to be able to help in any way we can.”
Bid on the shoes here, or to donate directly text the word “Haiti” to 90999 to contribute $10 to the relief fund.
