Donovan: I'm Here To Do A Job
The USA midfielder knows his time in England will not be all fun and games.
Landon Donovan knows that his time in England will be short. The loan he signed with Everton will have the US National Team star back in Los Angeles before the start of the Major League Soccer season. But Donovan says his time in England will not be all fun and games.
"The reality is I'm here to do a job and help the team win," the midfielder told sportinglife.com. "I'm not just here to have fun for a few months."
One of the people who Donovan says helped impress the importance of the situation upon him was USA teammate Tim Howard, who has seen his team struggle with injuries in the first half of the season.
"Tim was the first guy to call me, along with my agent, and we talked about it and what expectations were," Donovan said. "That was an important step for me to realize it is not just coming in for a few months and having a kick about."
Donovan also credits Galaxy teammate David Beckham with helping him be ready for the challenge of stepping into the EPL midseason and trying to find a place on the pitch.
"Knowing (Beckham), being around him and playing with him I can see what it takes to make it at a place like (Everton) and if you are not ready and prepared you can get passed by," he said.
Donovan will get his first chance to see the pitch this weekend when Everton travel to London to take Arsenal.
