Considering the sluggish matches and poor results, few will have impressed Bradley. However, some who made the trip might still force themselves onto the 23-man roster for South Africa.
Among those on show, voters indicated that Edgar Castillo made the biggest jump forward in his chances. The slender leftback sealed his allegiance switch from Mexico to the U.S. in the match against Denmark when he came on as a substitute. With sparse minutes and out of position in the midfield, Castillo didn't show much, but just the sight of him in a blue jersey instead of a green one is quite the transition. Given the USA's issues with finding a steady leftback, many peg their WC hopes on Castillo.
Below him, Stuart Holden, Robbie Rogers, and Eddie Johnson finished in a three-way tie. Holden and Rogers both look to capitalize on emerging MLS careers and exciting attacking talent to make the team. Johnson fell out of favor following a disaster move to Fulham in the EPL where he is frozen out, but looked lively up top in both friendlies.
