Report: Edu To Miss Start Of Next Season

Reports out of the UK have Rangers and U.S. National Team midfielder Maurice Edu slated to miss the start of next season with a knee injury.

SPL: Maurice Edu, Rangers, March 2009 (PA)

Maurice Edu’s injury, which was suffered in Ranger’s final match of the season and kept the 23-year-old out of Bob Bradley’s side in Costa Rica, will keep the midfielder out of action for at least three months according to the Daily Record.

The report states that Andy Williams, a renowned London based surgeon, carried out a successful surgery to heal damaged ligament in Edu’s knee.

The news comes as an added blow to U.S. National Team fans after the crushing 3-1 loss to Costa Rica on Wednesday night. Bradley’s side will now have to face a busy schedule without one of its most accomplished central midfielders.

Edu will be out of action until at least September and will not take part in either the Confederations Cup or the Gold Cup and could miss most of the rest of World Cup qualifying.
