The team continues to prepare for the 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup taking place in Egypt this September and October. The United States will play in Group C of that tournament, along with Germany, Cameroon and Korea Republic.

The squad for the friendlies is headlined by FC Dallas players with five. Chivas USA contributes two, and the Houston Dynamo and Toronto FC each add one to round out Major League Soccer's contribution.

Three players are attached to clubs outside of the United States, one is out of contract and the rest come from college ball with one exception.
