Cruz Azul retains Christian Gimenez as Liga MX domestic transfer window closes

Club America acquired center back Pablo Aguilar while Queretaro bolstered its squad with nine additions. Players can still be signed from abroad until Dec. 28.
Christian "Chaco" Gimenez has agreed to sign a new deal at Cruz Azul after lengthy negotiations, as several other teams bolstered their squads before the Liga MX transfer window closed Wednesday.

Clausura 2013 champion Club America signed center back Pablo Aguilar from Club Tijuana, while relegation battler Atlante brought in Narciso Mina, Jonathan Bornstein, Manuel Viniegra and Alonso Zamora.

Queretaro was a big mover in the market, signing nine players, including Christian "Hobbit" Bermudez from America, while Colombian Dario Burbano signed for Tigres, where he will be joined by Ivan "Guty" Estrada.

Atlas strengthened with four players — Enrique Perez, Jorge Gastelum, Higinio Bucio and Federico Vilar — from sister club Morelia as the Rojinegros attempt to avoid relegation.

Guadalajara neighbor Chivas brought in Omar Bravo, Jair Pereira, Israel Castro and Gerardo Rodriguez, as they seek to put a poor 2013 behind them, but lost Marco Fabian to Cruz Azul, Hector Reynoso to Morelia, Miguel Sabah to Leon and Miguel Ponce to Toluca.

Over at Pachuca, there were a few interesting incomers, with Diego de Buen moving from Puebla, Edgar Andrade from Morelia and Hugo Rodriguez from Tigres.

Duvier Riascos left Pachuca for Morelia, along with former Chivas winger Luis Morales.

Players can still be signed from abroad until Dec. 28.
