The American midfielder struck first for the Belgian club in a draw with Standard Liege for his fifth league goal this season

Coming off an embarrassing defeat to PSG in the Champions League last week, Sacha Kljestan did all he could to help Anderlecht get back on track in the Belgium league.

Kljestan, who is hoping to earn a spot on the U.S. national team's World Cup roster, scored his team's only goal in a 1-1 draw with Standard Liege in the Belgian Jupiler League on Sunday.

After suffering a 5-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday, Kljestan put his team on the board in the first minute against Standard Liege when he knocked in a corner kick. Anderlecht held the lead until Imoh Ezekiel's equalizer in the 36th minute.

Kljestan has five goals in 11 league games this season.
