The USA midfielder made his return to Zdenek Zeman's starting XI after being out of action for more than a month and scored a goal in Roma's win over Atalanta.

Michael Bradley's return to AS Roma's starting lineup could not have come at a better time for the U.S. national team and could not have been done in a more encouraging fashion.

Bradley, out since injuring his thigh during a training session at the end of August, returned to action for Roma Sunday and scored a goal in the club's 2-0 victory over Atalanta. With the U.S. national team gearing up for World Cup qualifiers against Antigua and Barbuda and Guatemala in the coming days, Bradley's return for Roma places him on schedule to return to Jurgen Klinsmann's roster after being forced to miss the USA's September qualifiers against Jamaica. Klinsmann will announce his 23-man squad Monday afternoon.

In just Bradley's second appearance since joining Roma on a transfer this summer, he started, played 72 minutes and found the back of the net in the 62nd minute for his first goal of the season. Bradley completed an overlapping run, pounced on a rebound of a saved shot and tucked it home from a tight left-sided angle with his right foot to double the capital city club's edge and help it to fifth place in Serie A through seven games. Bradley had assisted on a goal in the club's season-opening win as well, and he also scored for Roma in a summer friendly against Liverpool at Boston's Fenway Park.

The goal marks the latest event in a whirlwind month for the 25-year-old Bradley, who has fought his way back to fitness while also welcoming the birth of his and his wife Amanda's first child, Luca.
