It took Clint Dempsey five Tottenham appearances to open his Spurs account, but it was definitely worth the wait.
The American midfielder scored Tottenham's third, and ultimately game-winning goal in his team's famous 3-2 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Dempsey's goal was part of a wild three-minute stretch that saw three goals fly in. Down 2-0 in the 51st minute, Nani scored to cut his side's deficit to 2-1, before Dempsey struck off a rebound from a Gareth Bale shot to make it 3-1 in the 52nd minute. Just a minute later, Shinji Kagawa made it 3-2 with a neat turn and finish, but that would be all the scoring on the afternoon.
The 29-year-old U.S. international was hauled off in the 70th minute in favor of Gylfi Sigurdsson, as Andre Villas-Boas looked to lock down the victory. Having faced questioning over his job status after a slow start, AVB can be secure after this performance, which saw his side move up to fifth in the Premier League table.
