Americans Abroad transfer rumor roundup: Klinsmann recommends Bocanegra to Eintracht Frankfurt

While Clint Dempsey’s future is still in limbo, Carlos Bocanegra could be heading out of Scotland in favor of Germany.
Carlos Bocanegra: Newly promoted Eintracht Frankfurt has shown interest in Carlos Bocanegra. The Rangers defender was recommended to the club by U.S. national team coach Jurgen Klinsmann. Bocanegra has expressed that he would consider playing in the German Bundesliga so this rumor may have some weight to it.

Clint Dempsey: Despite considerable interest from Liverpool and the fact that Dempsey wants to play in the Champions League at some point, Fulham is still hopeful that the elite goal-scorer will remain a Craven Cottage. Manager Martin Jol is keen on retaining Dempsey not only because of the Deuce’s scoring acumen but also because the Cottagers have lost a lot of firepower this summer. Bobby Zamora was sold to QPR while both Andy Johnson and Pavel Pogrebnyak have departed.

Michael Bradley: In just his third club game, Bradley tallied his first goal for AS Roma, scoring the opening goal during a 2-1 win over Liverpool at Fenway Park on Wednesday. The midfielder received a ball from Erik Lamela and slotted past Reds keeper Brad Jones. Bradley played well once again on Friday as Roma defeated El Salvador 2-1 at Red Bull Arena.

Geoff Cameron: The 27-year-old underwent a medical on Wednesday as he prepared to join Stoke City. The U.S. international still needs to acquire a work visa to play in the United Kingdom, but he is expected to obtain his permit and should feature for the Premier League club this season.

Brad Guzan: The keeper helped Villa wrap up a solid pre-season tour as the Villains defeated the Portland Timbers 2-2 (4-5 penalties) last week. Guzan made the only crucial save of the shootout, stopping Bright Dike’s attempt. Given his strong play and penchant for being able to handle big moments, Guzan could very well win that starting job for Aston Villa.
