Jozy Altidore's hot streak continued in the Netherlands as the American striker scored the game-winning goal in AZ's 2-1 victory over VVV Venlo on Sunday.Altidore scored in the 68th minute to notch his fifth goal in five games.
The U.S. international hit the post twice in the opening half before he was finally able knock in a header at the far post to give his team the lead for good after the visiting squad had tied things up six minutes earlier.
The result leaves AZ second in the table, six points behind Ajax and ahead of Feyenoord on goal difference.
Meanwhile, DaMarcus Beasley recorded his fifth goal in the Mexican Clausura season in Puebla’s 3-2 defeat to America. He tied the game at two in the 48th minute.
The U.S. player has seven goals since signing with the Mexican club last summer.
