American Devann Yao Signs With Ipswich Town
American youngster Devann Yao has signed with Ipswich Town in the English Championship.
Devann Yao has signed a contract with Ipswich Town which will last until the end of the season. With no current club affiliations, the 19-year-old could move outside the transfer window using his free agent status.
Yao impressed manager Roy Keane enough during a trial to earn the short-term deal.
“I've enjoyed my time at Ipswich and I'm happy that I now have the chance to play for the club,” Yao told GreenUn34.co.uk. “I'm here until the summer and hopefully in that time I can break into the first-team. Now the challenge is to keep improving and try and win myself a new contract in the summer. ”
After spending time in the youth programs of Metz in France and Livorno in Italy, the young winger is eager to test out England, where he feels his attributes fit best.
“I've been to France and Italy to play, but English football is the style I enjoy the most,” the New York native said. “I love the pace of the game here and this is a fantastic opportunity for me.”
