Since joining Everton earlier this month on loan from the Los Angeles Galaxy, Landon Donovan has been quite a hit.

An assist in his first match, and solid play in the three matches following, Donovan has made quite an impression on Toffees fans.

That impression was only strengthened on Wednesday when Donovan and the rest of his Everton teammates were set to take on Sunderland. Up 1-0, Donovan was able to take the ball inside the Sunderland box and slot home his first goal for his new club.

News of the goal traveled fast as Galaxy coach Bruce Arena was questioned on the tally from Los Angeles.

"I haven't seen him play a full game. I've seen a few minutes here and there. I think he's adjusted well,” said Arena of how Donovan has been playing. “That's great [that he scored]. I think that's good for his confidence.”

When asked whether Donovan’s steady play might result in an extension on his current loan deal with Everton, Arena was much more terse.

“He’s coming back March 15th,” said Arena, clearly indicating that he expects Donovan to return.

The 27-year-old Donovan has enjoyed a lengthy professional career, with the majority of his playing time coming with Major League Soccer. He’s made 121 appearances for the Galaxy, scoring 64 goals in the process.

He’s also a international veteran, having won 120 caps, scoring 42 goals for the U.S. Men’s National Team.
