Americans In The UK: Everton Reserves Pound Wigan
With the international break, only a handful of Americans were involved in club action this week.
By Matthew Braine
Anton Peterlin and Cody Arnoux have both been given ample amount of playing time thus far and on Tuesday the pair helped the Everton Reserves notch a fine victory over Wigan. Everton’s Shane Duffy and Tom Donegan each notched a brace with Kieran Agard netting once to make the final score line a resounding 5-2.
Peterlin got the start and played effectively, with Arnoux coming on for the final 30 minutes. Neither American played a strong hand in the goals, however, they each played well and a convincing win like Tuesday’s was much needed from a squad that dropped five of their past six matches.
Premiership:
Anton Peterlin and Cody Arnoux, Everton.
Vs. Wigan Athletic Reserves, 5-2, (Peterlin played 90 minutes, Arnoux played 30 minutes)

Up Next: Tuesday, November 24th, home against Sunderland Reserves.
League One:
Jemal Johnson, Milton Keynes Dons
Vs. Northampton Town, 3-1, (DNP)
Vs. Charlton Athletic, 5-1, (31 minutes)
In Johnstone Paint Trophy action, the Dons beat up on Northampton Town and progressed to the semi-final round. Johnson returned to action on Saturday, coming on as a second half substitute in the league, but the Dons were decimated by Charlton 5-1. Aaron Wilbraham scored in the 10th minute for the visitors but Charlton then scored five unanswered goals.
Up Next: Friday, away to Southampton.
Mike Grella, Leeds United
Vs. Grimsby Town, 3-1, (DNP)
Leeds also progressed into the semi-finals of the JPT with a 3-1 win, but Grella was not included in the side. Saturday’s match against Swindon Town was rescheduled due to international call-ups for Leeds players.
Up Next: and Saturday, away to Brighton.
John-Paul Pittman, Wycombe Wanderers
Vs. Hudderfield Town, 6-0, (42 minutes)
Pittman came on late in the first half, replacing John Akinde, but failed to make an impact as Wycombe lost badly, 6-0. Wanderers now have 10 loses in league play, compared to just one win and five draws. Relegation seems almost assured at this point.
Up Next: Wednesday, away to Brighton, and Saturday, away to Millwall.
League Two:
Eric Lichaj, Lincoln City
Vs. Cheltenham Town, 1-1, (DNP)
Lichaj, still serving his 3-match ban, was not involved in Saturday’s draw. City’s Jamie Clarke netted just after the break to cancel out Justin Richards’ opener.
Up Next: Saturday, home against Grimsby Town.
