After being suspended for Rennes’ 0-0 draw with Lille last week, Carlos Bocanegra returned to help his side trounce erstwhile league leaders Montpellier 3-0. Despite being under pressure for much of the first half, the home side made the breakthrough in the 34th minute through winger Sylvain Marveaux. Moussa Sow doubled the hosts’ lead just five minutes after the break, deflecting a strong effort from Jerome Leroy past a helpless Geoffrey Jourdren in the Montpellier goal. Ghanaian Asamoah Gyan rounded out the scoring in stoppage time, capping a joyous night for the Brittany side.
