The American did not play in his club's 4-1 Champions League loss to Unirea Urziceni on Tuesday, but was still targeted afterward and mentioned what took place via his Twitter account.

A spokesman for Strathclyde Police said "Officers are viewing CCTV footage and working with Rangers FC to trace the person responsible."

DaMarcus Beasley, Edu's Rangers and USA teammate, expressed his support, on his on his own Twitter site, saying: "What was said to Mo was not right. End of the day it's a game - and race has nothing to do about it. Sad, sad."
