Americans On The Continent: In Our Hearts
After a joyous weekend during which the US Men’s National team clinched qualification for the 2010 World Cup, tragedy struck when Charlie Davies USMNT and Sochaux was involved in a horrific one-car collision on October 13th.

In one of the darker moments in U.S. Soccer history, striker Charlie Davies was seriously injured in a car accident in the early hours of October 13th.
The driver of the vehicle, a 22-year-old woman was killed and Davies suffered a fractured right tibia and femur, lacerated bladder, a fractured elbow and facial injuries. The Sochaux striker remains hospital at the time of writing but has been moved out of the ICU and has reportedly been strong enough to receive and speak to guests.
Michael Bradley played the full 90 for M’Gladbach as they traveled to defending champions VfL Wolfsburg. After a solid first half, the visitors had a momentary lapse in the 45th minute to allow Alexander Madlung to rise unmarked and head home the first goal of the match.
Despite continuing to battle valiantly, Borussia went two down in the 90th minute when Christian Gentner collected a pass on the left side of the box and uncorked a searing daisycutter past the helpless Logan Bailly in goal.
Just moments later however, Bradley gave the visiting support reason to cheer as he collected a defender’s header at the top of the box and squeezed his shot past Diego Benaglio from just under 20 yards.
