Phil Brown: Jozy Altidore's EPL Experience Will Be Beneficial At World Cup
Hull will offer USA starlet "every opportunity to play World Cup football."
USA international Jozy Altidore was regarded as a prospect at New York Red Bulls, only to be deemed a fringe player at Villarreal, and consequently saw himself farmed out on loan. However, Hull City boss Phil Brown has vowed to improve the teenager's game and make the striker feel more "at home".
Altidore aided the United States' World Cup celebrations after a 2-2 draw against Costa Rica, and despite an underwhelming start to his Premier League stay, Brown believes he can now push on for a first-team role.
He told the Hull Daily Mail: "He'll get the coaching that's required, he'll get the fitness that's required, we will give him every opportunity here.
"You cannot motivate players, you can only provide the conditions, but he will have every opportunity to play World Cup football."
He continued: "He'll be stronger for playing in the Premier League and with 20 or 25 games in England, that experience will put him in good stead."
Regarding the interruptions to his settling-in period, Brown noted: "If you count the days he's been here in the two months since he signed, he's probably only spent half of them here. I don't know the lad too well and he doesn't know me or the coaching staff," added Brown.
"Hopefully now we can see him bed down and find himself a good home here."
