American striker Kenny Cooper continued to show well for his German club, 1860 Munich, scoring the team's only goal in a 3-1 defeat to Karlsruhe.

The former FC Dallas player scored the opening goal in the match. In the 17th minute, Cooper picked up the ball about 40 yards out, drove forward, cut back and hit a low right-footed shot from the edge of the arc into the lower left corner of the goal.

Anton Fink was able to equalize for Karlsruhe, and then came the play that 1860 coach Ewald Lienen later called "the crux of the game".

1860 Munich forward Benny Lauth earned a penalty kick, but missed it when he hit the ball off the crossbar.

Lauth had a match to forget, as Cooper, who continued to play well, served in a nice cross in the 48th minute. Another 1860 player in the box flicked the ball on to Lauth, but his header missed the open goal.

Though Karlsruhe scored twice more to finish off the scoring, Cooper's goal is likely to keep him earning more regular starts, which bodes well for his USA national team future.
