VIDEO EXCLUSIVE: Jozy Altidore Shouts Out To President Obama

The American forward, who helped the USA defeat Spain in the Confederations Cup, was pleased that the President believed the team wouldn't let a two-goal lead slip away again - even versus mighty Brazil.

Goal.com sat down for an exclusive interview with American international striker Jozy Altidore.

One snippet of the piece is available here to readers, as Altidore looked back on the USA's turn-around at the Confederations Cup and the responses he received after the squad finished off the upset of Spain, which was then ranked as the number one international squad in the world.

In fact, the American team gained so much fame in their Confederations Cup run, that their saga reached the upper levels of global politics.  Brazil's president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, recently offered the US president, Barack Obama, a jersey signed by Brazil's players, considered a national treasure, as a gift.

When Obama received the shirt, Lula told him through an interpreter that he was worried when the U.S. held a 2-0 lead on his beloved Brazil squad in the Confederations Cup final, but that made the eventual 3-2 victory sweeter.

While Obama still graciously accepted the present, he couldn't resist a response, telling Lula. “We will not lose a 2-0 lead again.”

Altidore had an enthusiastic reply to Obama's acknowledgment and belief in the USA team's future endeavors.
