Fulham Trot To Easy Bolton Win
Fulham marched to their first ever league win away from home this season at the expense of Greater Manchester side Bolton Wanderers.
Bolton Wanderers 1-3 Fulham
There is a marked difference between Fulham's fate at home, and away, but the Cottagers have finally remedied their problematic travel sickness by beating Bolton on their own turf by a 3-1 scoreline and, insodoing, recorded their first away win of the season in the Premier League.
The game began in a frenetic fashion as each side employed great pace in order to try and unnerve their opposition. Bolton enjoyed the greater chances in the opening stages, and had chances to grab an early goal as Mark Schwarzer fumbled a timid Johan Elmander free-kick, only for Gary Cahill to fail (twice) to take advantage of the rebound.
Fulham though were the side that took the eventual lead, taking advantage of their ability to blossom late in the half to exert their game onto the Reebok Stadium outfit.
A defensive howler cost the Greater Manchester outfit when Andy O'Brien failed to deal properly with a through ball. Jussi Jaaskelainen was left charging out to a ball that was eventually passed around him, and poaching striker Andy Johnson was on guard to capitalise on the mix-up.
The lead did not last long though, as Kevin Davies fired a fantastic finish past a rooted Schwarzer and into the top corner. There was great link-up play between Mark Davies and Kevin prior to the goal, that included a delicate one-two build-up.
Fulham then restored their lead ten minutes after the re-start when another O'Brien mistake allowed Johnson to take advantage, and the diminutive forward played in Danny Murphy who struck the frame of the goal with his effort, but Simon Davies was positioned expectantly, ready to smash the rebounded chance past Jussi.
The visitors then sealed the win two minutes before the final whistle. McCann was this time caught out, passing straight into the path of Dempsey who duly threaded in Kamara who nonchalently rolled the ball into the net from close range.
