Beasley: I Need To Be Playing Football

Rangers and U.S National Team midfielder Damarcus Beasley says that he needs to be on the field, whether with Rangers or somewhere else, if he is to figure into Bob Bradley’s side.

With the winter transfer window wide open and Scottish giants Rangers looking to offload surplus players, it seems as though American midfielder Damarcus Beasley’s time with the Glasgow outfit may be short lived.

The American has not featured regularly for the club this season after signing on two years ago for just over one million US. But Beasley is not ready to give up on his chances with the Gers just yet.

It is up to me to show that I am worth keeping here,” the winger is quoted as saying in the Evening Times Online. “I love the club and I'm hopeful I can get back in and play my part in the team. I don't have any desire to go somewhere else. I'm happy here.”

With a crowded international schedule ahead of the U.S. National team, and Bob Bradley’s desire to utilize players who are match fit, the 26-year-old knows he will need to find some regular minutes to fit into the equation with the Red, White, and Blue.

We've got World Cup qualifiers coming up and the Confederations Cup in South Africa this summer. I want to be involved in all of that,” Beasley told the Rangers News. “I know for that to happen I need to be playing football, so hopefully over the next couple of weeks things can improve for me.”

While Beasley wants to get back into the lineup with Rangers and prove his worth, he has not ruled out a move during the transfer window as a possibility.

“I know I've got to look out for myself first,” Beasley said. “If I'm not playing here I should move on. I must stress, though, that I really want to be a part of things here. I want to stay and I've not got it in mind to leave."
