Rangers Commit To Edu For Future

Maurice Edu has been boosted by the comments of his manager, reassuring him of his long-term future at Rangers.

Maurice Edu has seen limited time since joining Scotland’s Rangers in the summer. He’s racked up a mere two starts, and both of those came back in October. Since then the US international midfielder has been limited to reserve appearances.

However, Rangers’ manager Walter Smith has come out in support of his young star. He sees the former Toronto FC midfielder as a long-term project, one that will help the squad for years to come.

"I felt we had to bring in a few younger players and it always takes a little bit of time for them to settle in," Smith said according to Sky Sports. "[Kyle] Lafferty and Edu will play a big part for Rangers in the coming years, I've no doubt about that.

“But it does take them a little time to settle and at Rangers you have to have experienced players around you as well. And people's expectations of the younger ones should not be the same as those on the experienced players."
