Ricardo Gomes, head coach of AS Monaco has made it clear that US International forward and Monaco player Freddy Adu will stay with the French side through the season.

“Freddy is evolving in Monaco,” said the Brazilian boss. “He will be staying with us until the end of the season.”

Adu, who is on loan from Benfica has only made nine appearances for Les Rouge et Blanc since joining them in July. Since joining Benfica in 2007 from Real Salt Lake, Adu has only managed 11 appearances for the Portuguese squad combined with the nine made with Monaco.

Prior to his move abroad, Adu was a fixture in DC United’s lineup making 87 appearances, scoring 11 goals, before a short move to Salt Lake. He’s also a seasoned player for the US National Team, at varying levels, having made 50 appearances from U-20 up to the senior squad.

Will Adu stay? Will he play? Do you even care? Discuss this and more in the Goal.com Forums
