American Adu Speaks Of Tottenham Dream
The American striker would love a move to London one day...
Benfica forward Freddy Adu has spoken of his desire to one day play in the Premier League.
The 19-year old American, who broke into Major League Soccer with DC United aged just 15, and was tipped to be the next big thing in world football, has not quite lived up to those lofty expectations.
Currently on loan at Ligue 1 club Monaco from Portuguese giants Benfica, Adu has spoken of dream to one day play in England.
"My dream is to play for one of the top European clubs, the top five," the Ghanaian born player said today.
Whilst such a statement is pretty unremarkable from an ambitious footballer, the specific English club he'd like to play for is perhaps a little surprising.
"Tottenham are also one of my dreams, since I supported them as a boy. My objective is the Premier League, which is for me the best league in the world."
Adu joined Benfica in 2007 from MLS side Real Salt Lake City, and has made 11 appearances, scoring two goals. He moved to Monaco on loan this season and has played seven games for the French club without scoring.
