Julian de Guzman signs with Skoda Xanthi

The 32-year-old Canadian international moves to Greece after a brief stop in Germany.
Julian de Guzman has joined Greek Super League side Skoda Xanthi F.C., the club announced on its website on Monday.

The 32-year-old Canadian international heads to Greece after a brief stint at SSV Jahn Regensburg in Germany, where he made 15 appearances in the 2. Bundesliga after signing at six-month contract in January.

Greece will be the fifth country that de Guzman has played in professionally, as the midfielder has also had stops in Spain, Canada, and the United States. De Guzman rose to prominence as the first Canadian to play in La Liga when he featured for Deportivo La Coruna from 2005 to 2009, and he also became Major League Soccer's first ever Canadian designated player during his time with Toronto FC and FC Dallas.

No details of de Guzman's deal with Skoda Xanthi were announced, although the midfielder was said to be looking for a longer agreement than the one he had with Jahn Regensburg.
