In an interview with Prost Amerika, the former West Ham and Aston Villa midfielder said he will be joining the Vancouver Whitecaps in MLS.
Two days after signing Honduran international defender Johnny Leveron, Martin Rennie and the Vancouver Whitecaps have added yet another important piece to their roster.
Despite offers from various clubs, English midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker told Prost Amerika that he will be playing in MLS with the Vancouver Whitecaps and says he looks forward to getting started.
“I am very excited and looking forward to this great new challenge in Vancouver,” Reo-Coker stated. “The MLS is a growing league, and growing in stature every year, which makes it even more exciting.
“I still know the best is yet to come from me as a player. I’m 28 and know there is more to come. I would love to contribute to this growing league and love to help Vancouver win the title.”
Reo-Coker spent 10 years in England's first and second tiers, most notably with West Ham, Aston Villa and Bolton Wanderers. The London native also represented England in its Under-21 national team.
The Whitecaps have yet to make an official announcement, but the London native isn’t expected to have a designated player contract.
