  • Saturday's friendly will be Canada's first match since its infamous 8-1 loss to Honduras. The lopsided defeat, which took place last October, signalled Canada's exit from 2014 World Cup qualification.
  • Interim Canada head coach Colin Miller has called in numerous young prospects as the team looks to build toward this summer's Gold Cup and, ultimately, the next World Cup qualifying tournament.
  • Denmark's squad is completely domestic, as the game falls outside of FIFA international match windows and most European leagues are in season.
  • Both sides will face additional North American competition following this match. The Danes meet Mexico on Jan. 30 in nearby Glendale, while Canada travels to Houston to take on the United States on Jan. 29.

  • While in Arizona, Denmark will also face Real Salt Lake, likely utilizing its younger players against the MLS side.
