1. Sean Franklin (L.A. Galaxy) - Let's hope that Abel Xavier's uninspired play doesn't rub off on him.

2. Patrick Nyarko (Chicago Fire) - By October, he'll be scaring teams when he jogs onto the field in the 70th minute.

3. Patrick Phelan (New England Revolution) - Toronto will one day regret giving up on him so soon.

4. Geoff Cameron (Houston Dynamo) - He scored a rocket stoppage-time equalizer in his first appearance, and he’s only gotten better since.

5. Stephen King (Chicago Fire) - Authored creative attacks in few appearances for Chicago.

6. Justin Braun (Chivas USA) - Anyone that comes back with electric tape on his head should earn honors.

7. Emmanuel Ekpo (Columbus Crew) - Last week's goal says it all.

8. Jonathan Leathers (Kansas City Wizards) - With 14 players with no previous MLS experience, one Wizard has to be on the list and Leathers is their best.

9. Luke Sassano (New York Red Bulls) - One of the few Red Bulls that might have wings.

10. Kheli Dube (New England Revolution) - Scores enough goals to show off his dance moves.

11. Julius James (Toronto FC) - He might be a bench player now, but he’ll be a beast come October.

The Starting XI appears weekly on Goal.com USA.
