Herrera unveils Mexico lineup to face Portugal

Giovani dos Santos will start alongside Oribe Peralta up top in El Tri's final friendly before traveling to Brazil.

Mexico coach Miguel Herrera has unveiled the lineup that will face Portugal on Friday in El Tri's final pre-World Cup friendly, with Jesus Corona in goal and Giovani dos Santos up top.

Herrera revealed the team during a news conference Thursday, during which he noted the lineup taking on Portugal in Foxborough, Massachusetts, on Friday will closely resemble the squad versus Cameroon in El Tri's World Cup opener.

The 11 players who will face Portugal are: Corona, Rafa Marquez, Francisco "Maza" Rodriguez, Hector Moreno, Paul Aguilar, Miguel Layun, Jose Juan Vazquez, Andres Guardado, Hector Herrera, Dos Santos and Oribe Peralta.

Corona has been in a battle with Guillermo Ochoa for the starting goalkeeper spot, while Dos Santos and Javier Hernandez have been fighting for the forward slot alongside Peralta.

One player El Tri won't have to deal with is Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo, who has been ruled out of Friday's match with tendonitis and a muscle injury in his left leg.
