Guillermo Ochoa and Giovani Dos Santos will start for Mexico on Saturday against Ecuador in El Tri’s key World Cup preparation match, according to Mexico coach Miguel Herrera, who named the team in a press conference on Friday.
Ochoa will get his chance in goal with the manager admitting that he is still undecided on who will be in net against Cameroon in Mexico’s World Cup opener on June 13.
In defense, Paul Aguilar will be the right wing back, with Andres Guardado on the left and Francisco Rodriguez, Rafa Marquez and Hector Moreno the center backs from right to left.
Hector Herrera will be given a major opportunity to shine in the holding midfield role that he is inexperienced in, with Leon duo Luis Montes and Carlos Pena ahead of him in midfield.
Finally, upfront, Dos Santos will renew his Olympic-winning partnership with Oribe Peralta.
The game against Ecuador kicks off at 3 p.m. ET in Arlington, Texas and is the first of three friendlies Mexico plays in the United States ahead of the World Cup.
