The Mexico manager used Twitter to reveal his starting lineup for his team's first match of 2014, a friendly in San Antonio.
Mexico manager Miguel Herrera will hand three debuts in his first match in permanent charge of El Tri, with Rodolfo Pizarro, Alan Pulido and Jose Juan “El Gallito” Vazquez all set to start against Korea Republic in San Antonio, Texas on Wednesday evening.
The 45-year-old named his team via Twitter on Tuesday night, after stating just hours earlier that he was undecided on whether Isaac Brizuela or Luis Montes would start in midfield and if he was going to pick Diego Reyes or Enrique Perez at center back.
Alfredo Talavera will start in goal, which is perhaps surprising considering Cruz Azul’s Jesus Corona is more experienced and was expected to get the nod.
The three center backs will be captain Rafa Marquez, Francisco “Maza” Rodriguez and Reyes, with Pizarro the right wing back and Miguel Ponce starting at left wing back.
The holding midfield is Leon’s Vazquez and in front of him in the more attacking midfield slots will be Carlos Pena and Isaac Brizuela.
Up front, London 2012 hero Oribe Peralta will be partnered by Tigres striker Pulido.
