The Real Sociedad forward, who has repeatedly declined call-ups to El Tri, said he could speak with coach Miguel Herrera and "see what is best for the national team."
The 24-year-old forward was once again noncommittal when it came to the question of the national team, despite the suggestion that incoming coach Miguel Herrera will travel to Europe and sit down with Mexicans playing there in February.
"If he comes and we talk then I'll think about it," Vela told Fox Sports after the game. "I think the only person I have to talk about it is with him if the opportunity arises."
He added: "We would talk and see what is best for the national team and everyone."
The Cancun native — who has six league goals in 14 appearances this season — also seemed to be quietly confident of Mexico's chances in the World Cup.
"Every team at the World Cup is difficult and even more so the host (Brazil), but Mexico has always shown it is a complicated rival and that it can make the next round," Vela said.
