The midfielder received two yellow cards in the first six minutes to seal an early exit from his side's Champions League loss to Zenit St. Petersburg.Hector Herrera's Champions League day was over almost as soon as it began.
The 23-year-old Mexico international was sent off with two yellow cards in rapid succession in the opening six minutes of Porto's 1-0 loss to Zenit St. Petersburg on Tuesday, setting a dubious record for quickest double booking in a Champions League match.
Herrera first took down Hulk with a sliding challenge from behind to prevent the Brazilian from having a clear path to the goal as he approached the Porto box in the fifth minute. On the ensuing free kick mere moments later, Herrera ran forward from the wall before the ball was struck, earning his second booking and a quick exit that left his team down a man for the remainder fo the match.
It appeared as if Porto was going to be able to stave off Zenit, but Alexander Kerzhakov's goal in the 85th minute snatched the points and left Porto in third place in Group G, six points behind first-place Atletico Madrid and one behind Zenit.
Herrera's fellow Mexico international and Porto teammate, Diego Reyes, did not dress for the contest.
