thumbnail Hello,

The American forward started his Xolos career in brilliant fashion, scoring a trio of goals in 25 minutes.

United States men's national team striker Herculez Gomez wasted no time endearing himself to fans of his new team, scoring three times as a second half sub in his Tijuana debut. The Xolos routed Victoria of Honduras 6-0 in the CONCACAF Champions League, qualifying for the CCL quarterfinals.

Gomez replaced fellow American Joe Corona shortly after halftime and went on to repeatedly embarrass the Honduran side. In the 60th minute, he opened his account thanks to a long pass from Argentine midfielder Cristian Pellerano.

He grabbed his second just seven minutes later, pouncing on a rebound and knocking the loose ball home, before sealing the dream debut with his third goal in the 85th minute.

American teenager Paul Arriola also found his way onto the scoreboard, netting Tijuana's second in the 33rd minute to continue his fine run of form for the Mexican side.

Gomez's hat trick makes the former Los Angeles Galaxy and Santos Laguna man the only player to score multiple goals in each of the least three CCL tournaments, and puts him fifth on the all-time CCL top scorer's list, equal with Oribe Peralta on 12 goals.
