Carlos Vela and Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez may not be teaming up for Mexico right now, with Vela continuing to be absent from Jose Manuel de la Torre's squad, but they'll have a chance to share the field on the grandest club stage this fall.
Vela's Real Sociedad and Chicharito's Manchester United were drawn into the same group in the UEFA Champions League during Thursday's draw in Monaco, meaning their sides will go head-to-head on two occassions.
Vela's two goals in the second leg of a 4-0 aggregate triumph over Lyon helped cement Sociedad's place in the tournament proper. He has also scored goals in each of Sociedad's two games to start the Spanish Liga season, helping his club to a 2-0-0 start.
Chicharito has yet to play in United's three matches across all competitions this season, but he is no stranger to the Champions League setting. He scored three goals -- all against Sporting Braga -- in last year's group stage and four goals in the 2010-11 competition.
In order to get through to the knockout round, Sociedad and United will have to fend off challenges from Shakhtar Donetsk and Bayer Leverkusen.
